Shelling Along the Shores of Pensacola Beach

A favorite pastime among all ages, hunting seashells among the beautiful white sands of Pensacola Beach is one of the best activities to be enjoyed any time of year. You never know what the tide will bring in! It’s best to visit a stretch of beach that is less traveled than some of the more populated areas, such as Casino Beach, where the finds may be well picked over. You can drive down to Fort Pickens on the Gulf Islands National Seashore, where there are several beach areas that are quite sheltered. https://www.nps.gov/guis/learn/historyculture/fort-pickens.htm

If you’re looking for an extra special experience, try our dolphin cruise with remote beach stop! https://jollysailing.com/dolphin-cruises/ It combines our popular dolphin tour, with a visit to a lovely secluded beach that is only reachable by boat. Most times, we are the only people there! In this wild, natural setting, you may come across some of the “locals,” such as the Great Blue Heron, Sandpipers, Stingrays, and maybe even an Armadillo! The boat beaches right up on the bay side, which offers shallow, calm water for swimming. Just a short walk across to the Gulf side, and you have your own private beach, which quite often offers up some remarkable treasures. Here’s a sampling of what you may come across! Please enjoy this gallery, compiled by our very own First Mate MJ, who has grown up on the Gulf Coast, spending much of her time soaking up the natural beauty of our beloved beaches.
